TURKEY STEPS UP EXPORT GAME: 2026 TARGET SET AT $410 BILLION!
Turkey concluded 2025 by achieving a historic export record and has now set an ambitious target of $410 billion for 2026. Success stories are consistently emerging across various sectors, from defense industries to agriculture.
Turkey's export-driven growth strategy continues to yield significant results. According to the latest data released today and assessments from the economic administration, Turkish exporters have entered 2026 with high morale and record-breaking achievements.
Highest Figure in Republican History
With the finalization of 2025 figures, Turkey's goods exports reached $273.4 billion, crossing a significant historical threshold. Following this success, attention has turned to the "2026 Target" announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The new year aims for a total volume of $410 billion, comprising $282 billion in goods exports and $128 billion in services exports.
Defense Industry Becomes a "Heavyweight" in Exports
Momentum continues in the defense industry, a leading sector for high value-added exports. Increased international demand for MKE's BORAN howitzers and TEI's (TUSAŞ Engine Industries) recently announced $2.95 billion major engine order are strengthening Turkey's position in technology exports.
"Salmon" and "Floral" Impact in Food and Agriculture
Exports are not limited to heavy industries. According to figures released today:
- Turkish Salmon: The sector reached $520 million in exports in 2025, marking a 13% increase.
- Ornamental Plants: Sector representatives stated today that they concluded the year with $160 million in exports and aim to increase their share in the European market by 20% in 2026, leveraging logistical advantages.
$45 Billion Lira Government Support for Exporters
Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat reiterated that the total grant and support package to be offered to exporters in 2026 has been set at 45 billion TL. These supports are expected to be utilized particularly for the digitalization of SMEs and their expansion into new markets.
