Faruk Akbaş, President of the Turkish Pistachio Producers’ Central Union, emphasized that pistachios are not only an agricultural product but also a key source of income for thousands of families and a strategic export item for Turkey.
Commenting on the export performance, Akbaş stated:
“Reaching $178 million in exports despite drought and frost is a very important and encouraging development for our sector.”

Recent snowfall and rainfall in production regions are expected to boost yields in the upcoming season. Akbaş noted:
“We have entered an ‘on year’ for pistachio production. Favorable weather conditions are expected to increase output and significantly contribute to higher export figures in 2026.”
Efforts to expand exports and access new international markets are ongoing.
